UV Sanitizer’s & Ozonator’s

April 1st 2016

Ultraviolet (UV) pool sanitizers utilize a non-chemical process that uses germicidal UV light rays to sanitize water, air and surfaces that may be contaminated.

A UV pool sanitizer emits a high intensity germicidal light ray that disrupts the DNA organisms such as algae, bacteria and viruses living in a swimming pool. The highly concentrated electromagnetic energy destroys organic matter, eliminating the formation of dangerous chlorine by-products.

How Ultraviolet Pool Sanitizers Work

UVOnce a Ultraviolet (UV) pool sanitizer is installed, it blasts the passing water with a high intensity ultraviolet rays that destroys waterborne pathogens, including algae, bacteria and viruses.

The sanitizing lamp is housed in an industrial strength graphite container that is optimized for high water flow rates. A specialized quartz glass sleeve shields the lamp from passing water while transmitting 99.9% of the UV light. The highly concentrated energy destroys organic matter and eliminates the formation of dangerous chlorine by-products that commonly lead to red eyes, skin irritation(s), asthma and some allergies. This energy penetrates the cell walls of bacteria, viruses, algae and all pathogens. No pathogen can escape a powerful dose of UV from a UV sterilizer!

Are UV Sanitizers Safe?

Ultraviolet sanitizers are very safe. UV cannot leave or escape the sterilization chamber, so UV never enters the swimming pool. UV is a physical process rather than a chemical process, making UV the most environmentally friendly choice in pool sanitation. There is no residual effect that is harmful to humans, animals, aquatic life, plant life or the environment.

Ozonators

Another great choice for a pool alternative sanitizer is a pool PZ2-1-2-OzonatorSm
Ozonator. Ozone is a natural purifier created by the combination of oxygen in air and the ultraviolet rays of the Sun. Ozone is the clean, fresh scent that is usually noticed after a rainstorm. As a natural sanitizer, ozone destroys bacteria, viruses, mold, mildew and eliminates spores and fungus.

Due to its purifying capability, ozone can be used to keep pool water clean by providing an alternative to traditional chemicals such as cal-hypo chlorine.

For the amount needed for swimming pool water purification, ozone has no noticeable odor, taste or color. It is not irritating to humans and will not damage pool equipment. Ozone purifies water and air very quickly and efficiently, 3,000 times faster than chlorine, and leaves no chemical by-products except 100% pure oxygen.

How Ozonators Work

Pool ozonators generate and inject ozone into the water, reducing the need for chlorine or bromine by 75 to 90%. Some residual of traditional chemical is still recommended for complete sanitization but the common complaints of red eyes, irritated skin and harsh odors are eliminated with the use of an ozonator.
